FAQ’s for families (kids, teens)

Yes, all of the recipes are suitable for the whole family. While teenagers might eat more and younger kids might eat less, all recipes are centered around wholefoods and such are suitable for the entire family.

There are 6 kids between us and all of these recipes have been tried and tested in our homes and enthusiastically given the thumbs up!

If it important to remember that all recipes are based on equal serving sizes and adult / teenage portions, so when you are dividing the plates up for dinner, ensure the servings are equal to begin with and then adjust for older teenagers or younger kids, as required, serving yourself one serving size.

This will ensure that you are not personally overeating / undereating at each meal – which we know can be so easily done! Both over eating and under eating can impact your results, weight, and energy. Remember: undereating will not give you the results you want.

You can adjust serving numbers (refer to video in Start Here section) if you find that you consistently have too much or too little food at dinner time, based on how much everyone else is eating. Or as a bonus, the extras can serve as your lunch the following day(s) – we love this as it saves us cooking twice!

Our recommendation for hungry, growing and active kids and teenagers is to make extra serve(s) for the dinner recipes, that can be divided accordingly. For example a family of two adults, two teens – if your teens are overly hungry – you may make 5 serves for dinner, instead of 4. Just remember that you will divide the meal into 5 first (so you are getting the correct serving) and then you can split the extra serving amongst those who want/ need it.

If you happen to be left with any extras, think of it as a next day lunch ‘left over’ bonus!

As we follow a whole food approach to the meals in this program, if you consider the program from an overall macronutrient perspective, then yes! It is more than suitable for your kids to join in. The recommended serving sizes are suitable for teenage kids.

All recipes are family-friendly and while all meals are suitable for the family, it is expected that the family will most likely share dinner, not necessarily always breakfast and lunch. However, please share all meals if that is what your family is happy to eat.

As discussed above, if you have hungry growing teenagers, you might need to consider adding in an extra serve to your recipe, in order to give them a higher caloric intake, i.e. bigger meals or additional high protein snacks.

If you consider the program from an overall macronutrient perspective, then yes, it is more than suitable for all of your kids to join in. The recommended serving sizes are designed though for teenage kids / adults, so you may want to adjust the number of serves down as your little ones are unlikely to eat a full serve. Of course, any extras can be used as lunch for you the following day. We just don’t want to extra ending up on our plate in that specific meal (or we end up consistently overeating!).

Yes, the protein powder is safe for the whole family to consume, however depending on the child’s age, the serving size may need to be adjusted.

The protein powder serving size recommendation is for any adult over the age of 16 years, so for younger children is it worth while using approximately one third to a half of the regular serving size.
