Mexican flavoured ‘shapes’

,

While our kids would kill for the processed ‘shapes-in-a-box’, we are not especially fond of them…. so, we came up with our own version our SSH Mexican-favoured “Shapes” and as even our fussiest will admit – these “are not bad, mum!”  This is a big win here 🙂

Quick and easy to make and you can actually flavour them with whatever cuisine takes your fancy… we are a bit Mexican-addicted right now with all the paprika, cumin, lime juice, white pepper….. hence our tendency towards mexican.

INGREDIENTS

2-3 round wholemeal pita bread (or you could use wholemeal wraps)
2-3 tbsp olive oil
1-2 tsp paprika
1-2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp white pepper
1 tsp sea salt

METHOD
1. Pre-heat oven to 160 degrees. Roughly chop pita bread into ‘chips’ or small squares. Add all ingredients to bowl and toss well, to combine.

2. Lay ‘chips’ out flat on a baking tray and pop into oven. Bake for around 10 mins. They don’t take long, so keep an eye on things. Once gently browning and crisping up, remove from oven and allow to cool.

3. If still chewy, they might need a bit longer.

4. Serve with super simple guac and crudités or any other homemade dips, like white bean and mint dip, or our homemade hummus.

The shapes will store in an airtight container, but we never have any left over?!?
