Anna and Em standing against a red wall

The good, great and epic: your guide to what we are loving right now.

Well, our summer break might be over (more like a very distant memory!) and that is very sad, but it is definitely fun to be getting back into a routine and mapping out a plan for some exciting projects this year!  Over the break we read, listened to and even cooked a LOT of inspiring and educational content.  Here is a small snapshot of some of our highlights… we hope that you enjoy!  If you read, watched, or listened to anything that you think that we should know about, please comment below… we are always up for some recommendations! Enjoy.

PODCASTS

All of the episodes from the Healthy moms podcast – This podcast is an offshoot from The Wellness Mama and the host, Katie, interviews SO many amazing people on topics from hormone health, to kids nutrition, to fertility, to sustainable food and bulletproof coffee!  You could literally jump on any of her podcasts and come out of it much better off, but heres a  couple that we listened to over the break….

Healthy moms podcast: Sharing gratitude, joy and Christmas family traditions.  This year we felt a little overwhelmed at times in the lead up to Christmas – between meal planning for Christmas Day, present buying, social engagements, children’s social schedule, holiday planning, catching up with family and friends – all incredibly positive things, but they had all begun to feel like they were getting on top of us!  This podcast came a little too late for me, but we enjoyed it and will be definitely taking some of this on next Christmas – to ease the majority of that mum stress… phew!

Healthy moms podcast: Why birth control pill screws up hormones and what to do instead? This episode chats to Nicole Jardim, a Certified Women’s Health Coach and Functional Nutrition Coach who specializes in helping women with hormonal problems. She has some much needed insight especially on the subject of the birth control pill and some of its lesser known effects. For anyone on birth control, looking to become pregnant or just interested for the sake of others in their lives – this is a goodie!!

Healthy moms podcast: Beat anxiety and resolve panic attacks with targeted amino acids.  For those who might experience anxiety or know someone who does, this one is fascinating!  This was one of the first times we had heard of Amino Acid therapy and were fascinated by the research. Give this one a listen and let us know what you think?

Oprah Super Soul Conversations podcast:  Gretchen Ruben 8 Rules to Happiness – focus on becoming “Better than Before”.  Gretchen Rubin is the author of The Happiness Project, a 365 day journey she undertook to try and get more happiness in her life.  This is a practical but insightful look at small things that you can do for more happiness.  She talks about being Better than Before, which we love!  We truly believe that great health is not about being as slim as… (enter name her), or being as fit as…. X its is ALL about being a better YOU than before.  Its a goodie!!

Melissa Ambrosini: Vegan, Paleo, Low Carb, High Carb – Whats YOUR ideal Diet w Dr Stephen Cabral.  This podcast is a no-nonsense chat that cuts through so much of the confusion about diets and shows that EVERYONE is different and there is absolutely NO one size fits all when it comes to diet. He discusses why there is always a reason as to why you have not achieved your ideal wellness or weight loss or health goals.  If this sounds like you and your health journey, this is definitely worth a listen.
