The good, the great and the EPIC!
What a huge week we’ve had – but this is just one more goodie, that we’ve been working on!
We are so thrilled to be starting a new feature for you where we will highlight the best of our week – what we have eaten, read, watched, listened to and seen… everything that ticks the boxes for us and that we know that you will just love, too. So, without further ado, here are this week’s “The good, the great and the EPIC”!
A massive highlight for us both has been announcing a few of our new and exciting workshops and services! If you missed it – where have you been?!? (just kidding!) – but, you can find out more here and here.
We love Jessie Mundell’s article on Returning to Exercise after a C-section She rightly points out that anyone having undergone ANY surgery is given months of rehab, multiple visits to check progress and close counsel from their doctor for MONTHS. BUT, following an equally invasive survey, mothers are generally given no physiotherapy, no guidelines for recovery, no specific exercise protocol and just patted on the back following the 6 week check-up and wished ‘good luck’! If you have had or might still be in line for a caesarian birth delivery, check it out. It’s a great read.
Are your mornings chaotic, busy, frantic and let’s be honest, a little stressful? Gretchen Rubin has written 11 Tips for Getting Ready Faster in the Morning. Give these a go. We can attest to a few of them and they are literally life savers! She has also written some NY Time best selling books on Happiness and Habits. We are currently reading her book “Better than before. Mastering the habits of our everyday lives”. Excellent read if you are finding it hard to implement ANY kind of new healthy habit.
You might have seen us post it on IG, but this recipe needs mentioning again. It was delicious and oh, so easy to make for how impressive it looks! Spinach and broccoli curry from @brownpapernutrition. AH-mazing as leftovers too.
Now, for a totally left of field recommendation which has nothing to do with women’s health, unless we are talking “laughter as the best medicine” kind of health! For a good laugh (and if you don’t mind a little bit of rude language and adult themes) – you must download the My Dad Wrote a Porno podcast (available free through the iTunes Store). It is “tears-streaming-down-your-face” funny, very cheeky and a little naughty, so if that appeals- check this one out. It is definitely an ADULT ONLY recommendation. Please make sure there are no little ears around and we suggest that you do not listen if you are offended by crude language (as it has a bit!). In that case, this one is not for you.
And finally, Dr Mark Hyman has confirmed what we at SSH, have always known…. “Our social connections are far more important that our genetic connections in determining our health.” Yes, really! Check it out here. And, just so that you know… we are here for you….so ….feel free to use us to better your health, any time you want.
😉
And that’s the best from our week – Enjoy!
