Our must-do list for a Byron Bay weekend getaway

Hi All,

It was a short, but incredibly sweet, weekend getaway in Byron Bay.  We did manage to squeeze in some yumminess around the wedding celebrations, so here are our most recent STAY and EAT tips in Byron.

STAY:

For the first time, we stayed at the Atlantic.  We have been eyeing off this little gem since they opened years ago but had never had the chance to stay here.  As we were down their child-free, it was the perfect chance to give them a whirl!

Stylish, well appointed king-size rooms but the best part are the ample and beautifully designed ‘share’ spaces – the kitchen, lounge area, decks, pool area, garden space and fire pit.  All available for you to enjoy whenever you feel the urge – unfortunately we did NOT get to use these to their best advantage but have decided when we go down next we will surely plan a night or two with a good bottle of red, sitting around that fire pit! @atlanticbyronbay www.atlanticbyronbay.com

EAT:

Bay Leaf Cafe– this is our all-time Byron breakfast favourite.  The brunch menu reads so beautifully that it is tricky to work out what to order, but in our experience you can’t really go wrong.  The dishes are tasty, full of flavour, delicate but so, so nourishing and delicious.  The coffee is on point too.  These clever chooks now also have their takeaway spot next door – Leaf and Grain – offering incredible breads, burgers, coffee and more.  A great option if you don’t want to sit in or are looking for some delicious supplies…. maybe take your goodies back to relax at The Atlantic!!  Cnr Johnson & Marvell St BB. @bayleafcafe

Combi– with amazing breakfast, incredible drinks list including fresh smoothies, coffees, beetroot, turmeric & matcha lattes, raw treats and much more!  Dine in or takeaway.  This newer little addition is a good one.  21-25 Fletcher St BB @wearecombi

Top Shop– A corner store on the top of the hill that claims to serve delicious coffee and food, focussing on local and organic produce – and they are NOT wrong!  The burgers and fries here are not to be missed, but the salads, chia pots, smoothies, and toasties are all worthy. The place is always buzzing as customers leisurely lounge all over the grass-covered footpath, enjoying their spoils.  A cool spot. @topshopbyronbay  65 Carlyle St BB.

And that’s about all we personally had time for this weekend, but others EAT spots worthy of a mention are The Farm – there is not enough time to tell you all about this one – just go there! @thefarmbyronbay,

The Roadhouse @roadhousebyronbay, Il Buco pizza @ilbucobyronbay, Miss Margerita for some yum yum Mexican food, Italian @ the Pacific, and of course, for a seriously stunning spot – Beach cafe where you literally nestle amongst the dunes at Clarke’s beach @beachbyronbay.

For non-EAT and STAY tips – the lighthouse walk is stunning – do the rainforest trip in one direction and the Watego’s beachfront walk the other.  It is challenging, but really is quite spectacular. Watego’s beach is a particularly charming spot for a swim, as it is smaller in size. Then if you are up for a day trip outside of Byron – there is Newrybar and the incredible, award-winning Harvest @harvestnewrybar or head into the hinterland to Bangalow for a real treat.

Enjoy!
